Everybody knows that the Daytona is not anymore a simple Rolex watch only, but it also represents the object that all of us would like to have.. Nowadays it represents a Myth.
We talk about Daytona, read about it, write about it and we also see it in the movies.
Since many years, we often see the protagonists of important films wearing a nice Rolex.
Today we want to talk about the Daytonas which appear in famous movies.
Obviously, it s not possible to talk about every single film, that’s way we made a selection based on our taste an on the rarity of the watch.
Let’s start with Kill Bill Vol. II where the beautiful Uma Thurman uses her Daytona for the pregnancy test.
The curious fact is that the Daytona is fake !

Another important movie in which a Daytona appears is “Leaving Las Vegas”, where Nicholas Cage wears a stainless daytona from 1993.

Nicolas Cage plays Ben Sanderson, an alcoholic Hollywood screenwriter who lost everything because of his drinking, arrives in Las Vegas to drink himself to death. There, he meets and forms an uneasy friendship and non-interference pact with prostitute Sera.
Unforgettable is “Winning”, where Paul Newman, in the role of Frank Capua, a young race car driver torn between work and love, wears a personalised Rolex Cosmograph Daytona in stainless steel, putting its resistance to strong vibration to the test.

In the 1998 movie “Knock off”, Jean-Claude Van Damme wears a stainless steel Daytona with white dial.

Rober De Nire, in “15 Minutes”, wears a stainless steel Daytona with Oyster bracelet. A gold Rolex Day-Date is also seen.

Another Cosmograph Daytona in stainless steel in the movie from 1995 “Red Line 7000”.
Then in “Thunderheart” Val Kilmer wears a stainless steel Rolex Cosmograph Daytona. He ends up giving the watch to an Indian elder.
Futhermore, in “I Love You Phillip Morris”, a 2009 romantic comedy-drama film where Jim Carrey plays the artist, impostor, and multiple prison escapee Steven Jay Russell, we can see different Rolex watches on a tray.
The Cosmograph Daytona that appears in this film has a diamonds dila and will be sold at auction.

We remind you that in the Book 100 Years of Rolex there is an entire chapter dedicated to the “Rolexes in movies”.
